These simple safety precautions will ensure that you get the very from our candles and melts each time you use them.
Trim the wick – For candles with a normal cotton wick, please keep wicks trimmed to about 0.5cm.
We use 100% cotton, lead free wicks. Sometimes you will notice a ‘mushrooming’ of the wick. To provide the cleanest burn possible, we recommend you remove the black ‘mushroom’ before burning and periodically in-between burns.
Do not burn your candle for longer than the 4-hour maximum recommended burn.
Wax pool fires – These are caused when a hot piece of untrimmed wick drops into the melted wax pool and ignites it. In the event of a wax pool fire, either cover your candle so that the flames are slowly extinguished as the available oxygen is depleted or blow it out carefully
Let it melt – It is important that you let your candle achieve a full melt pool on the first burn. This can take up to 4 hours for larger candles, depending on size and other factors.
Candle Care Instructions
Burn time – We recommend burning your candle or melt for between 1 and 3 hours at a time for optimal results. If it burns for less than an hour, you may risk not setting the candle memory and causing tunnelling or wax hang-up which may reduce burn time and may drown your wick. (requiring manual wax removal). If the candle burns for too long, your wick may burn hotter than usual and evaporate the wax at a faster rate, reducing burn time.
Close the lid – When your candle is not in use, keep the lid closed to retain the fragrance strength. Storage – Candles are sensitive to temperature and light. Avoid fading, cracking and melting by storing your candles in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, dust and fluorescent light.
Wax Melt Guidelines
Place your melt burner/warmer in a safe, stable situation, away from drafts and anything flammable
Keep well out of the reach of children.
Never add water to your burner.
Never leave your burner / warmer unattended or within reach of children!
Do not allow the flame from the tea light to touch the underside of the melt bowl (part where the wax melt sits). There should be at least a two inch clearance or it could catch on fire.
Do not melt the wax if the melting bowl contains less than 1/2″ or 1cm of wax, either add another melt or discard the wax!
When the wax melt has cooled it will solidify again – you can re-use the wax until the fragrance has been consumed.
